Aid Ryan's Fight Against Blindness

Hello Everyone,

I am trying to help out my buddy who is have a really bad start to 2025. He needs our help and would never ask for it on his own so I am going to get this ball rolling to help the Rogers family. “Hello my name is Ryan Rogers. I am 46 years old and have recently have had some severe medical issues that have placed a strain on my family.

I am retired Police Officer/Deputy Sheriff and was injured on duty from a fight with a crazy naked man in our town. He was running in and out of traffic and we struggled to control him. During the fight I ruptured 4 discs in my back, and there was no surgery that could conclusively help me with out huge risks.

I ended up retiring because of the disability. Since then I became employees with Progressive Insurance and have had a great second career.

My job now is very sedentary and I gained some weight. I chose to try out Ozempic to lose some weight. I took ozempic for about 4-5 months and had side effects stomach pains etc but nothing too alarming until 12/30/2024.

On 12/30/24 I suddenly because violently ill. Very quickly. Vomiting and diarreah for about 5 hours straight. I ended up going to the emergency room and had a very low blood pressure 54/23. Doctors informed me that my kidneys were failing. They began severe life saving measures and were eventually able to stabilize me. The lot specifically told me to stop taking ozempic. Which I did. During the weeks following this initial incident I have been admitted to the hospital for over 10 days, seen multiple specialists, and finally discovered that at some point during the process to save my life I came down with NAAION.

NAAION is a devastating diagnosis because there is no cure. I am completely blind in my left eye and there is concern that my right eye could be affected during this acute stage.

Because of all this I am struggling financially as I am on short term disability and my income has been reduced because of this.

I live with my wife and two awesome kids, Brandon my son is on track to graduate from UCSD, and my daughter is 18 and graduating from El Capitan High School and has a GPA of 4.9. I am very proud of both of them. Natalie’s aspiration is to become a doctor and wants to go to MIT or Harvard.

Needless to say this journey is not something I could have predicted or expected and any assistance would be greatly appreciated to help me with medical bills, transportation (cause I can’t drive) and help me through this acute period where my second and good eye has a high chance of injury.

I have so many people reaching out to me to find out what they can do to help and this would be a great way to help.

Shelly my wife is such a wonderful person and we both are givers and hate to ask for help but seems appropriate in this case. Operation save the right eye is in full effect.”

god bless you all and thank you for the prayers
