Aid the Bennett Family's NICU Journey

Asami and Casey Bennett have lived their lives in the service of others. Casey is a firefighter/ EMT and Asami is a registered nurse. While they have spent their professional lives caring for others in their time of need, they have dreamt of having children and expanding their family. They were overjoyed to find out that they were pregnant, six months ago, and even more elated when the ultrasound showed they were expecting twins.

On the night of July 1st, Casey and Asami's elation turned to fear and suspense. On that night, Asami reported a problem with the pregnancy and was taken to the hospital immediately. Upon arrival at the hospital, tests showed that the situation was dire. Asami was flown by helicopter to a higher level of care at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical center, no doubt saving her life and the life of the twins.

After mother and children were stabilized, the hospital attempted to delay the delivery of the twins, in order to give them more time develop in utero. They were able to postpone delivery for a few days, bringing the twins to 25 weeks of development, before the delivery became the only option.

On the morning of July 4th, Niko and Noah Bennett were born. Both were born weighing less than two pounds, but both have obviously been born with the fiercely independent spirits of their parents. They were rushed to the neonatal intensive care unit, where they were placed in incubators and their breathing is being assisted by a ventilator. Casey and Asami have been by their side every second that the doctors will let them, since the moment Niko and Noah came into the world.

I am asking the community to support Casey and Asami, so that they can focus on the fight ahead supporting Niko and Noah. I cannot think of a more deserving cause than supporting this family who have sacrificed so much in the service of others.
