Aid The Wheeler Family After Tragedy

Hi Everyone,

I’m reaching out to ask for your help for the Wheeler family, who tragically lost their home in a devastating fire.

On December 1, 2024, what started as a peaceful Sunday turned into a nightmare for Sir and Janae Wheeler, the heart and soul behind VVS Events—a business that’s brought joy and unforgettable experiences to so many in the community. A fire broke out in their basement and spread rapidly, consuming curtains, furniture, and everything in its path. Despite their best efforts to fight the flames, the fire was uncontrollable.

When first responders arrived, challenges with the well water source delayed efforts to contain the blaze. The Wheeler family—seven members in total—could only watch helplessly alongside firefighters as their home was completely destroyed.

In the first 12 hours alone, they faced over $10,000 in unexpected expenses for hotel stays, clothing, replacing essential business equipment, and just getting the basics together for their family. Despite these immense challenges, the Wheelers remain determined to rebuild their lives and continue their work.

For over 10 years, Janae and Sir Wheeler have dedicated themselves to their immediate community and the region. From tree lightings and Earth Day celebrations to community walks and fall festivals, they have worked tirelessly to bring joy, education, and connection to their community. They have helped open doors for other small businesses in the Metro DC area as well as help employ individuals through all their business endeavors. Beyond their business, they have supported local charities and initiatives through events and fundraisers.

Now it’s our turn to help. Let’s rally around the Wheelers as they navigate this unimaginable loss.
