AIDE POUR LES ÎLES D’UNION ET DE MAYREAU

Comme beaucoup d’entre vous le savent déjà, nous sommes actuellement en sécurité à Trinidad après le passage de l’ouragan Beryl.

Tout le monde n’a malheureusement pas eu notre chance de pouvoir fuir cette catastrophe.

Nous allons en fin de semaine reprendre la mer en direction de Union et Mayreau dont vous entendez probablement moins parler aux informations que Carriacou ou Grenade.

Ces îles déjà très pauvres à l’origine et aux habitations précaires ont également été dévastées par Beryl.

Nous avons donc pris la décision d’apporter notre aide aux habitants là-bas en leur apportant notre soutien, nos bras, internet (via notre starlink) pour échanger avec leurs proches, des bâches de protection, de l’eau, de la nourriture qui n’a pas besoin d’être chauffée… et éventuellement un générateur électrique et du carburant pour le faire fonctionner.

Nous ouvrons une cagnotte en ligne pour toutes personnes souhaitant participer à cette action.

Nous n’avons pas le temps ni les connaissances pour créer une association à si court terme, les dons reposeront donc uniquement sur votre confiance en nous. Nous partagerons néanmoins avec vous les actions sur place sur notre page Facebook. Chaque euro supplémentaire peut participer à faire la différence pour ces personnes qui ont tout perdu.

Tout d’abord, un grand merci à tous les participants de cette cagnotte gofundme pour soutenir les îles de Mayreau et Union. Nous ne pensions pas qu’un tel montant serait atteint en si peu de temps.

Nous sommes toujours à Trinidad. Fanny ayant malheureusement dû rentrer d’urgence en France, Arnaud reste à bord de Daria avec les enfants en attendant son retour prévu pour le 24 juillet. Le voilier L’Eden qui participe activement avec nous à cette collecte a lui aussi eu un impératif de retour urgent en France, mais là pour 3 mois.

Bien entendu, nous prévoyons toujours d’aller aider les îles dévastées par l’ouragan Beryl mais il va falloir attendre le retour de Fanny.

En attendant, nous sommes en contact avec les îles concernées par ce gofundme, notamment avec Maurice et Kenrich, qui ont pu nous préciser les besoins exacts sur les îles.

Nous sommes également en relation avec le catamaran Lune qui a pu partir vendredi dernier et qui est actuellement sur place.

L’organisation de l’aide humanitaire s’est bien structurée sur place avec un lieu de stockage et de redistribution en fonction des besoins, mais également avec des réunions matinales afin de dispatcher les différentes équipes d’assistance, de déblaiement et de reconstruction.

Dès le retour de Fanny, nous irons faire les achats avec les dons du gofundme de ce que nous allons livrer sur place. Arnaud a déjà commencé le repérage des magasins et des produits disponibles en fonction des besoins qui nous sont communiqués. Nous pourrons ainsi prendre la mer au plus vite en fonction de la météo.

HELP FOR THE ISLANDS OF UNION AND MAYREAU

As many of you already know, we are currently safe in Trinidad after Hurricane Beryl.

Unfortunately, not everyone was lucky enough to escape the disaster.

At the end of the week, we'll be setting sail again for Union and Mayreau, which you probably don't hear as much about on the news as Carriacou or Grenada.

These islands, which were already very poor to begin with and have very poor housing, have also been devastated by Beryl.

So we've decided to help the people there by giving them our support, our arms, the internet (via our starlink) so they can talk to their families, protective tarpaulins, water, food that doesn't need to be heated... and possibly an electric generator and the fuel to run it.

We're opening an online fund for anyone who wants to get involved.

We don't have the time or the knowledge to set up an association at such short notice, so donations will rely solely on your trust in us. We will, however, share with you the actions on the ground via our Facebook page. Every extra euro can make a difference for these people who have lost everything.

Update - 10/07/2024

First of all, a big thank you to everyone who took part in this gofundme fund to support the islands of Mayreau and Union. We didn't think this amount would be reached in such a short time.

We're still in Trinidad. Fanny unfortunately had to return to France in a hurry, so Arnaud is staying on board of Daria with the children until she returns, scheduled for 24 July. The sailing boat L'Eden, which is actively participating with us in this fund-raising campaign, also had to return to France urgently, but for 3 months.

Of course, we're still planning to go and help the islands devastated by Hurricane Beryl, but we'll have to wait for Fanny's return.

In the meantime, we are in contact with the islands concerned by this gofundme, in particular Maurice and Kenrich, who have been able to tell us exactly what is needed on the islands.

We are also in contact with the catamaran Lune, which was able to leave last Friday and is currently on site.

The organisation of the humanitarian aid is well structured on site, with a place for storage and redistribution according to needs, as well as morning meetings to dispatch the various aid, clearance and reconstruction teams.

As soon as Fanny returns, we'll go shopping with the gofundme donations for what we're going to deliver to the islands. Arnaud has already started to identify the shops and products available, based on the needs we have been told about. This will enable us to set sail as quickly as possible, depending on the weather.
