Aidez mon père, une victime d'acte criminel

Notre famille fait appel à vous afin de supporter mes parents, Philippe et Martine, dans une épreuve épouvantable. La soirée du 7 octobre dernier, mon père a été victime d’un acte criminel. Un homme a choisi de passer sa rage en frappant mon père, qui était à pied dans un stationnement, avec sa voiture avant de prendre la fuite. Il a été retrouvé une semaine après les faits et fera face à la justice.

En ce qui concerne mon père, après avoir été transporter au centre hospitalier de Hull, les médecins ont déterminé que sa vie n'était pas en danger, mais il avait subi des fractures importantes au niveau de sa jambe gauche et de sa main droite. Le 10 octobre, les médecins l’ont opéré afin d’installer plusieurs vis et barre en métal pour reconstruire sa jambe. Depuis, la réhabilitation est incroyablement difficile, les centres hospitaliers étant débordés, mon père c’est retrouvé à la maison moins d’une semaine après l’opération. Cette semaine, nous avons eu la malheureuse nouvelle que le tout est à recommencer. Une nouvelle opération est prévue au courant de la semaine prochaine afin de retirer toute l’armature soutenant les os de sa jambe pour en réinstaller une nouvelle. La route vers la guérison sera longue et difficile, et toute la famille fait de son mieux pour passer au travers de ces étapes difficiles en se serrant les coudes. Mes sœurs et ma mère tiennent le fort comme des championnes depuis le début, et je prendrai l’avion dans deux semaines avec mon fils afin d’aller prêter main forte également.

Là où les choses deviennent encore plus difficiles, c’est lorsque les finances se mêlent de la partie. Vous voyez, en mars 2021, mon père a repris sa vie en main. Il a subi une opération bariatrique résultant en une perte de poids de plus de 200lbs. Son but était de pouvoir prolonger sa vie et de pouvoir participer plus activement dans la vie de ses trois filles et de ses quatre petits-enfants. Maintenant, non seulement il se voit immobilisé avec plusieurs doutes sur ses capacités futures, il se voit également incapable de travailler pour une durée indéterminée. Des procédures avec l’’indemnisation aux victimes d’actes criminel (IVAC) afin de remplacer son salaire sont enclenchées, mais l’organisations a informé mon père que le premier paiement pourrait prendre de 3 à 6 mois avant d’être envoyé.

Mes parents déménagent enfin dans leur appartement cette semaine, chose qu’ils ont travaillé incroyablement fort afin d’obtenir, et maintenant ils n’ont aucune idée de comment ils vont être capable de payer tout ce qui les attends, en plus des frais additionnels lié aux blessures de mon père. Nous faisons appel à vous, chère communauté, puisque nous sommes tous épuisé, physiquement, mentalement et monétairement. Our family calls on you to support my parents, Philippe and Martine, in a terrible ordeal. On October 7, my father was the victim of a criminal act. A man chose to express his rage by hitting my father, who was walking in a parking lot, with his car before fleeing. He was found a week after the incident and will face justice.

As for my father, after being transported to the Hull hospital center, the doctors determined that his life was not in danger, but he had suffered major fractures in his left leg and right hand. On October 10, doctors operated on him to install several screws and metal rods to reconstruct his leg. Since then, rehabilitation has been arduous; with hospitals being overwhelmed, my father found himself at home less than a week after the operation. This week, we had the unfortunate news that the operation was unsuccessful, and it must be done all over again. A new operation is scheduled for next week to remove all the reinforcements supporting the bones of his leg so that they can reinstall new ones. The road to recovery will be long and difficult, and the whole family is doing their best to get through these difficult stages by sticking together. My sisters and my mother have held the fort like the amazing women that they are since the beginning, and I will be flying to Ottawa in two weeks with my son to lend a hand as well.

Where things get even more challenging is when finances get in the way. You see, in March 2021, my father turned his life around. He underwent bariatric surgery resulting in a weight loss of over 200lbs. His goal was to be able to prolong his life and be able to participate more actively in the lives of his three daughters and four grandchildren. Now, not only does he see himself immobilized with several doubts about his future abilities, but he cannot work for an indefinite period. Procedures IVAC to replace his salary have been initiated. Still, the organization informed my father that the first payment could take 3 to 6 months before being sent.

My parents are finally moving into their apartment this week, something they've worked incredibly hard to achieve. Now they have no idea how they will be able to afford everything waiting for them, plus the extra fees related to my father's injuries. We appeal to you, dear community, since we are physically, mentally, and monetarily exhausted.
