Aidons Jazz et Patrick à naviguer une période difficile

Patrick et Jazz ont connu quelques mois très difficiles dernièrement.

En janvier 2024, Jazz a reçu un diagnostic de tumeur au cerveau quand un examen de Résonance Magnétique a révélé une tumeur de taille importante dans son lobe frontal gauche.

Un mois plus tard, Patrick a été opéré d'urgence pour ce qui semblait initialement être une appendicite. Mais malheureusement, des examens complémentaires ont révélé que Patrick a un cancer du côlon, stade 3.

À la fin juin, Jazz a subit une première crise épileptique due à sa tumeur. Les spasmes ont écrasé une vertèbre au bas de son dos, et elle fût opérée d’urgence pour réparer cette vertèbre (L2), suivi d’une hospitalisation de trois semaines pour rétablir sa motricité, et ensuite de quatre semaines de physiothérapie et d'ergothérapie intenses à la maison.

Cette crise épileptique a révélé l'urgence d'opérer sa tumeur au cerveau. Cette chirurgie aura lieu au milieu du mois d’août et ensuite son équipe décidera si un traitement de chimiothérapie ou de radiothérapie est approprié. Quant à lui, Patrick suit un traitement de chimiothérapie intense depuis le printemps, qui devrait se terminer à l'automne.

Patrick et Jazz sont très déterminés et travaillants, mais entre les nombreux rendez-vous médicaux, les traitements et opérations, il est souvent impossible de maintenir un rythme de travail régulier. De plus, puisque Jazz était en congé de maternité, elle ne peut recevoir d’aide financière gouvernementale pendant les semaines ou elle est incapable de travailler.

Help Jazz and Patrick through a Difficult Time

Patrick and Jazz have had a very difficult few months.

In January 2024, Jazz received a diagnosis of a brain tumor after an MRI scan revealed a sizable tumor in her left frontal lobe.

A little over a month later, Patrick received emergency surgery for what seemed initially to be a serious appendicitis. But unfortunately, further testing revealed that Patrick had stage 3 colon cancer.

At the end of June, Jazz had a seizure due to her tumor. The spasms crushed a vertebrae in her lower back and she received emergency surgery to repair it (L2), followed by three weeks of hospitalization to retrieve enough mobility to go home, where she then underwent 4 weeks of intense physio and ergo therapy.

This seizure revealed how urgent it is for Jazz to undergo surgery for her brain tumor, which will take place in mid-august. Her team will then determine if chemo and radiotherapy are appropriate. As for Patrick, he has been undergoing intense chemotherapy since the spring and this round of treatment should end in the fall.

Patrick et Jazz are very determined and hard working, but between numerous medical appointments, treatments and surgeries, it is often impossible to maintain a regular work schedule. Additionally, since Jazz was on maternity leave last year, she is unfortunately not eligible to receive governmental financial aid for the weeks she is not able to work.
