About three years ago, Abigail fell ill with flu-like symptoms. Week after week her symptoms progressively got worse until she was bed ridden most days. After almost a year or searching for answers, Abigail was diagnosed with Dysautonomia. This is a malfunction of the autonomic nervous system that controls the 'automatic' functions of the body, such as, heart rate, blood pressure, and digestion to name a few. People living with various forms of Dysautonomia have problems with light headedness, fainting, malnutrition, and more.
Abigail suffers from many of these symptoms and also has Gastroparesis (caused by the Dysautonomia). Due to the Gastroparesis she requires a feeding tube for most of her nutrition. She spends many hours traveling out of state to see specialists, having tests run, undergoing surgeries, visiting the ER, and recieves routine IV infusions/fluids.
So far many of the treatments they’ve tried have had little to no success in helping her regain her life back. Her doctors are in the process of trying to find the root cause of her dysautonomia, as well as seeking treatments that will help her have a better quality of life.
Abigail has a tenacious spirit and has fought this battle with so much strength and grace! Even on her worst days she finds a way to smile. Please help the Blockhan family as they struggle both financially and emotionally to help sweet Abigail fight these horrible conditions!
Thank you and God bless you.
