Ainsleigh's Camp Perthes Fundraiser
Donation protected
Hello, Ainsleigh here! First and foremost, I’m thriving on my new hip, and am actually enthusiastic about getting my second hip replacement out of the way!
As some of you know, I had various set-backs as a child, the worst being Legg-Calvé-Perthes Disease, which I developed at the age of 7. As part of my wish to pay it forward, I’m looking to raise donations, any amount welcome, for other children enduring the same ‘invisible’ disease that I’ve striven through.
This July I’m contributing, with part of my annual vacation, by volunteering at Camp Perthes in Irvine, California! I am really looking forward to volunteering, and I’m hoping to help motivate and inspire other kids with the ‘invisible’ disease, I had. Most importantly, I’d like them to know that you can do anything, if you put your mind to it. Anyone that truly knows me, knows that “mind over matter” is a saying I have always lived by.
So, I’m looking to put my bionic hip through it’s paces, and hopefully have a successful sponsored cycle from the Serpentine River to Tsawwassen, and back! If we can help bring a smile to a child’s face, who is suffering as I did, and still do, let me assure you they and their families will benefit immensely!
The Perthes Kids Foundation (a 501c3 nonprofit), was established to raise global awareness and provide support to children and families dealing with Legg-Calve-Perthes Disease, a degenerative hip bone disorder (a rare form of osteonecrosis), that makes it painful to walk, run, and play like most kids.
For more information about the cause, you can check out their website www.pertheskids.org.
Thank you all for your support! I am so excited to be a part of this, it means a lot to me.
Love,
Ainsleigh
