We are Brian & Heidie Malnassy, owners and makers of Ainslie House. Ainslie House is a small batch handmade candle and pottery company. Our goal is to put beautiful and affordable handmade objects back into people’s homes. Pottery has enriched our lives in so many ways, and we would love nothing more than for others to experience the same comfort and sense of home it has given to us.
We are raising money so I (Brian) can move into a new studio. This studio will be larger and will also have its own kiln to make and fire more pottery.
We have been fortunate to receive amazing support in multiple communities, and are committed to giving back. By making and selling more candles and pottery, we will be able to donate more to scholarship funds and non-profits on a more consistent basis.
Funds raised in this campaign will go towards:
-A new kiln and accessories ($3000)
-Rent and utilities (12 months operating cost = $2400)
-Construction materials and labor (lumber, shelving, miscellaneous; $1250)
We plan to start building out our new space in the months of December and January. The studio will be shared with another company run by our amazing friend, K.C. Dix. Her company, Small Gathering, offers early childhood art classes that put an emphasis on process and sensory-based activities. We hope to add to Small Gathering by incorporating clay into their programming.
Warren Mackenzie, one of our favorite American potters used to say,
"The challenge is to do the thing you have to do because you're in love with it and can't do anything else. Not because you want to become famous or rich, but because you will be unhappy if you can't do it."
