Airman Daniels Vs Cancer & TriCare
Donation protected
My name is Airman Jesse Daniels. I am a citizen of the United States of America and a member of her armed forces. I reside in Webbers Falls, OK. Since March of 2014 I have been battling stage IV colon cancer and it has been more than a full time job. I have begun to realize that not everyone knows how traumatic the experience of fighting cancer is. I can now attest to the fact that it is extremely taxing on physical, emotional, and spiritual strength as well as financial stability. The battle is not easy or cheap and it has caused me to seek support and help in many different ways. Today I am seeking your assistance in fighting this terribly unfortunate battle.
In May of 2010 I joined the Oklahoma Air National Guard. This was one of the proudest days of my life. I have enjoyed the Air Force immensely and had no intentions of getting out before I put in at least 20 years and retiring. Sadly my career with the guard is coming to an unwanted end. The guard is terminating my contract due to the condition of my health. While I was very ill I was forced to sign a document under duress that I did not fully understand that I believe will expedite my discharge from the military. This is not what I want however; I do understand that if I am not fit to fight that I can no longer be a member of the armed forces. I have found peace with that. Being unfit to fight was not my choice. There was nothing I could do about it.
Because I have cancer I will be medically discharged from the Air Force. As a result I will no longer be eligible for the health insurance through TriCare Reserve Select that has been covering my substantial medical bills from MD Anderson and Tulsa Cancer Institute as well as other medical institutions throughout this battle. I have paid my premiums faithfully and have met all of my obligations with the Air Force. The only thing I did “wrong” is get cancer. Obviously that was not by choice. That is my only crime. I developed colon cancer and because of that I will lose my health care coverage that I so desperately need to fight this battle. The price of losing this battle for my health coverage could very well be my life.
I have always been independent but now I need help. I need you to help me fight to keep my health insurance so that I can get back to fighting cancer. I cannot fight all of these battles on my own. Trying to battle this bureaucracy has already taken a toll on my health and hindered the healing process. Allowing me to keep my health insurance through TriCare is the right thing to do and it is critical for me to win the fight against this terrible killer named cancer.
The money I am asking for will go towards fighting the bureaucracy that is trying to snuff me out and shut me up. I barely have money to pay my bills due to the fight with cancer and the government knows that. There is no way I can fight for what is right here without your help. This money is not for me to enjoy but for me to use to fight for what is right. If the government can treat one disabled veteran like this then they can treat us all like this. Please help me fight for what is right.
Please share this with a friend. The only way this gets resolved is if people know about it. Every politician running for office will say they care about the well-being of our veterans. Well here I am. Let’s see those words put to action. Please help me raise awareness about this issue. Help me keep my medical coverage.
Thanks, and I look forward to hearing back from you soon.
P.S. Sizable donations are encouraged to be mailed directly to the address below as more of the funds will be able to go directly to fighting for what is right. However, for convenience, please feel free to use this “go fund me” page.
