AISA's Trip to Standing Rock
Donation protected
We the American Indian Student Association would like to request your support and the support of The American Indian Studies Center on a matter we consider of high importance: Uniting our Forces to the Standing Rock Tribe fight to preserve what is sacred: our land and water. As such, we request your assistance to fund our travel to Standing Rock as an organization. Historically, AISA has been a pioneer in student activism and rising in solidarity for Indigenous rights. The current situation is reminiscent of the 1969 Occupation of Alcatraz in which UCLA Native students dropped out of college to support. 80 UCLA students attended the Alcatraz occupation and fought for the same legacy that our ancestors fought for. These students eventually came back to UCLA and founded the American Indian Student Association as it stands today. It is in our veins, written in our DNA, the desire to unify in times of need, it is Native Pride. Therefore, the time is now, we ask for your support and considerations to help us comply with a mission our Native-Bruin brothers and sisters initiated in 1969, a legacy that is tactile and present to this day: when the moment arrives we rise to the calling.
