Aiuta Katia a tornare a sorridere

Ciao a tutti,

mi chiamo Susi e ho una figlia, Katia, 21 anni, gravemente malata.

Quando è nata, Katia era una bimba normale, ma all'improvviso ha iniziato ad avere problemi di salute alle scuole medie, e da li è stata una continua discesa verso l'abisso della malattia. Piano piano ha cominciato a non camminare più, a dimenticarsi le cose, ad avere attacchi epilettici (di un tipo di epilessia rara che non è ancora stata identificata). Ha scoperto di avere la sindrome di Arnold Chiari 2 e di soffrire di fibromialgia. La malattia si è portata via tutti quelli che avrebbero dovuto essere gli anni della scuola, degli amici, della crescita. In famiglia abbiamo cercato di fare il possibile per poter risolvere la situazione, girando da specialista a specialista, cercando e provando tante, troppe cliniche, dove abbiamo ricevuto diverse opinioni e trattamenti medici, spesso in contrasto. Negli ultimi anni, a Katia sono state cambiate talmente tante cure che lei stessa si sente come un topo da laboratorio agli occhi dei medici. Tante di queste cure l'hanno portata a non vedere, sentire, parlare o muoversi per prolungati periodi di tempo. Sta diventando sempre più difficile sia per lei continuare a convivere e "sopravvivere" in questa situazione, sia per noi come famiglia. Siamo quindi qui a chiedervi un piccolo aiuto per poter permettere a Katia l'acquisto di due cose molto essenziali per lei: una carrozzina elettrica di modo che possa essere leggermente più autonoma nel muoversi, e un particolare sedile per l'auto, che gioverebbe nel causarle meno dolori quando non riesce a muoversi e per andare a fare le visite mediche dobbiamo alzarla di peso dall'auto. Il terzo motivo per cui chiediamo il vostro aiuto, è per poter permettere a Katia di essere ricoverata in una clinica specialistica privata, di modo da poter trovare una vera diagnosi e la relativa cura, perchè possa, almeno parzialmente, ricominciare a vivere una vita "normale" nei limiti del possibile e, sopratutto, tornare a sorridere.

When she was born, Katia was a normal child, but suddenly, in middle school, she started having health problems and from there it was a continuous downslope into the abyss of illness. Slowly she began to stop walking, to forget things, to have seizures (of a rare type of epilepsy that has not yet been identified). She found out to have Arnold Chiari 2 syndrome and suffer from fibromyalgia. The disease took away all of what should have been her years of school, friendships, developement and growing up. As a family we tried to do everything possible to solve the situation, going from specialist to specialist, looking for and visiting many, too many clinics, where we received different opinions and medical treatments, oftentimes in contrast with each other. In recent years, Katia has been changed so many treatments that she herself feels like a lab rat in the eyes of the doctors. So many of these treatments have resulted in her not being able to see, hear, speak or move for extended periods of time. It is becoming increasingly difficult for both, us as a family but first and foremost her as a human being, to continue to co-live with and "survive" in this situation. We are therefore here to ask for a little help to enable Katia to purchase two things that are very essential for her: an electric wheelchair so that she can be slightly more independent in moving around, and a special seat for the car, which would help cause her less pain when she cannot move and we have to lift her in/out of the car to go to medical appointments. The third reason why we are asking for your help, is to allow Katia to be hospitalized in a private clinic abroad, so that we can find a true diagnosis and its treatment, so that she can, at least in part, begin to live a "normal" life as far as possible and, above all, return to smile.
