If you don't already know this extraordinary person, AJ is a 28-year-old self-professed nerd currently living in Pittsburgh, PA. AJ works as a freelance illustrator and is an extremely talented artist! Check out AJ's work here: http://www.ajfrena.com/
AJ was admitted to the hospital in late April after a massive growth was discovered, and within a few days went through surgery to remove two malignant tumors that had been growing inside for more than 6 months. Within a week AJ was diagnosed with ovarian cancer, which is often referred to as the "silent killer" since symptoms can be hard to detect in its earlier stages. In addition, ovarian cancer only occurs at a rate of less than 0.01% in women in their 20s, so it's not something that a lot of doctors would think to look for at AJ's age.
Fortunately, the cancer was detected in its earlier stages which greatly increases AJ's chances of survival, but it will still be a long uphill battle to beat cancer for good. The treatment will involve 6 total rounds of chemotherapy, which is a very effective cancer treatment but with many negative side effects. AJ is up for the fight though! Please join AJ in the battle against cancer by making a donation to help support AJ's family through this difficult time. Any amount would be greatly appreciated, no matter how big or small. Let's help AJ kick cancer's ass!
