a headstone for my brother

My brother Jason was shot with a BB GUN in 1987 by a family member. He was 5 and 1/2 years old. We have made a small memorial for him at the cemetery where he was buried 35 years ago. We visit it frequently and always bring new flowers. Our mom hasn't ever found closure with losing her boy so young. We would love to surprise our mom with a headstone for Jason. Being able to actually see his name there - I'm hoping, would help our mom grieve the loss of Jason.

First, "she" (family member) tells detectives Jason shot himself; by checking the angle of the wound and the air rifle that was involved, detectives determined that was physically impossible.

She then says the weapon discharged on its own while removing something from the closet. She stated she lied in fear that my mom (her sister) and my grandma (her mom) would hate her. My brother, who was 5, got shot in the head while watching tv. Detectives testified that the gun's pellet traveled about 6 feet before hitting Jason.

Tests of the BB GUN and the manufacturers specifications revealed that the pellet probably traveled at the rate of 580 feet per second, roughly comparable to the speed of a bullet fired by a 38 caliber handgun.

The DR. who conducted the autopsy said the pellet entered the right temple area and traveled through the brain. It was extracted from an area just behind Jason's left ear.

Even though "she" was found not guilty of murder, she still stole his life. You'd think she would show some remorse, some sympathy?. So many different stories from "her," other family members, and then the newspaper articles. We have yet to hear the actual truth of what happened in 1987.
