Building a Better World with Tennis

We are AJ Tennis Academy International, a Minnesota-based nonprofit organization (www.ajtennisacademy.com). Our vision is to leverage tennis to raise a generation of (underprivileged) kids with 3Cs: Curiosity for the world; Concern for the world; and Confidence to change the world. This is a passion that runs deep within each and every one of our members.
Our goal is to build these tennis academies around the developing world, starting in Nigeria. We begin in Nigeria because our Executive Director is of Nigerian heritage and has deep desire to give back to a world that has given him so much. We intend to do this well beyond the shores of Africa, in Asia and South America, as funds permit.
While our long term goal is to have a permanent facility in Nigeria, where we fuse tennis and global education for kids of all ages, we plan to have short-term tennis and academic clinics in Nigeria AND in Minneapolis, periodically, in the interim.
We are a globally diverse team united by one passion: positively bending the arch of destiny for our fellow human beings ever so slightly. We believe in the power of sports (especially tennis) to teach kids to become more resilient in difficult times, more globally minded, more strategic in their thinking, more curious in their approaches and more inclusive in their dealings with others.

UPDATE: In November 2017, AJTAI hosted "A Better Africa Through Tennis," a five-day tennis and coaching event in Lagos, Nigeria! We had over 600 students (ages 9 - 18) and 30 local coaches attend this event!! The event was incredibly rewarding for both the guests and the hosts!!
AJTAI hopes to host a similar event in Minneapolis (in partnership with the Minneapolis Police League) in spring 2018, as well as return to Nigeria for an encore in the fall of 2018.
