RAISE THE ROOF - AK 125 Year Revamp
Donation protected
Hi I’m Andy Dauncey, club captain at Altrincham Kersal Rugby Club
Rugby has really suffered in terms of finance and playing numbers across England with less than half the people playing recreational rugby than were playing in 2016.
This has had a profound effect on lots of club especially Altrincham Kersal. AK have been part of the community for 125 years and we want to keep it that way!
This is where we’re asking for YOUR HELP!
With lower numbers comes less subs and money over the bar meaning maintenance of the club we love has taken a back seat but we cannot drive new players and members of all the work we do inside the club is ruined every time it rains!
The club need a new roof and it is going to cost £50k to do this and the club just doesn’t have anywhere near this much to invest. So the plan is to ask the community which AK has given so much to, to give something back in return.
The people at the club have vowed to put themselves through challenges to show how much the club means to us. In return we’re asking you to donate what you can and help reignite our wonderful club, starting with the roof!
We have several plans in place:
I am running 3 marathons all 2 weeks apart and hoping that gets people donating
I have several other players joining me for one of the marathons
The minis and juniors are walking from our first home in Kersal to to our Kersal home now - this was suggested by an 8 year old player who loves his club! It’s 10 miles, which is a long way for an under 8!
The club and players will be doing the National 3 peaks (made a bit more difficult by a small twist which will be revealed in due course)
A large group of club members are also running the Altrincham 10k in September.
You can see how much we love this club, let’s get it back thriving!!
