Kidney for Caroline
Donation protected
Hi my name is Caroline and I am 26 years old and I’m getting a new kidney on February 13, 2019 thanks to my amazing donor!
I started this journey many years ago in 2006 when I was diagnosed with high blood pressure and kidney disease. I was 13 years old and my kidney function was only 30%. In 2014/2015 , I was put on the kidney transplant list and had to begin dialysis because my kidney disease had progressed to a critical point. I have been on dialysis 3 - 4 times a day for four and a half years.
I have been battling kidney disease for so many years while trying to work and go to school. I am presently a 2nd grade teacher, however, because this is only my second year teaching, I have not accumulated enough sick time to help with my recouperation and recovery, therefore, I will not be receiving a paycheck from work. There will be additional expenses along with surgery such as my extended stay at Piedmont Hospital, my travel to Atlanta/Piedmont Hospital for many follow-up visits and expensive medications. Thank you for reading my story and giving to my recovery. I cannot thank you enough for your love and support. Please say a prayer for me and my donor.
