Stage 3 Endometriosis Cancer Fighter

UPDATE MARCH 3 2024

I haven't updated in awhile but i will now. Mom will be turning 65 in June. She has Stage 3 Endometriosis and Ovarian Cancer. She was rushed to the ER and re-admitted to OU on February 27th. Just 5 days before that she was at her first chemo appt which got canceled due to her hemoglobin being so low. She i rushed to over to ER feb 22nd where she recieved 4 units of blood. Then 5 days later I rushed her back to the ER due to blood loss and Her kidneys started acting up. She's on her 5th blood transfusion now as I'm typing this now. She's had 4 this yr alone already and possibly more coming. Her hemoglobin keeps dropping. She had her first radiation on this past Friday and tomorrow she goes for her 2nd round the hopefully if they can get her hemoglobin back up to 8 she goes Tuesday for her first Chemo appt. She's been through so much and so has her body. It's been a long rough journey. She's good one day and then the next she crashes. Today has been a horrible day. It all started at 4am. She had an anxiety attack this morning and ever since then she's been going downhill. Her BP dropped to 89/61 and that was very scary concerning. She has an amazing team of doctors and is in good hands. They are doing eveything they can for her that her body will allow them to do to her. Shes still fighting with her heart disease too after her heart attack snd 5 stints last yr. I'm chronically sick as well but I'm trying my best. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers. My 23 yr old son is at home taking care of my sick dad who will be 67 next month. If something happens to my mom she doesn't have life insurance and if she doest make it out of this I'm gonna have to raise money to bury her. So if you can please donate please do if not just pray hard for us.

My name is Summer I'm Gails Daughter and I'm setting this up for my mom Gail Cox-Johnson. On September 27 2023 Gail was diagnosed with Endometriosis and Ovarian Cancer. 3 days later she lost her medical insurance. After numerous doctor visits and tests they've discovered she had an old heart attack through her 2nd EKG she had. So now her surgery has been postponed until she get more tests. Without medical insurance everything is out of pocket. I'm asking for you to donate anything you can to please help.

11-23-23 & 11-24-23

We had to come back to OU ER mom was having trouble breathing she had to much fluid on her we were in OU ER for 6 hrs. They did blood work xray ct scan and then admitted mom back to ICU. When we caw her Cardiologist he said mom developed a small blood clot in her lung which is very common with heart attack patiente so they are monitoring her and giving her new blood thinner meds. So we are back at OU ICU observation for 48 hrs. They said if she does well and tolerates the new blood thinners we should be able to go home tomorrow. She also had a very bad allgeric reaction to the Heparin drip(blood thinner) last night which caused another traumatizing episode. So thats why they are changing her meds and watching her closely with new blood thinners. Please Keep the prayers and donations coming please We appreciate them all.

11-21-23

Update Mom got released from OU ICU today we left around 3 or 4pm and broke free. That night was very rough. Got home had to call McLoud FD to come help get her in the house she was so weak my son and I couldn't do it together. So we got her in and that night was so rough. But I'm happy to report on 11-22-23 shes feeling alot better. Got some advice from a friend that went through this and the advice she gave me I used and today it's made mom feel so much better. She's slowly getting up and walking with her walker to the bathroom and back. Baby steps one day at a time

Now I've got to figure out how to get our hot water heater fixed so we can have hot water again we've been without it for 3 months maybe longer. I ordered a new shower chair and leg compressions for mom and they'll be here Friday. Hoping those help too. Also wished we could have a Walk-in shower installed to make it easier on all of us. Thank you for the continued prayers and donation.. She's got 3 long months of heart recovery then hopefully not sure yet but by the middle of next yr maybe they will tackle her Endometriosis cancer.

Update 11-16-23 mom had another surgery today. Her Dr. Placed 3 more stints into her heart so she now has a total of 5 stints. After her surgery it took 3 hrs to control her bleeding due to goin in through her groin this time instead of her wrist which they did twice. So shes very sore from that and where the impella pump was placed. 11-17-23 the doctors took out moms Impella 5.5 pump and we thought after that she'd be better because it was starting to cause her issues because her heart was now working so well on its own with the 5 stints. Shes very sore from everything. Yesterday was a very hard day. I think mentally everything caught up with mom and right after she ate lunch yesterday she went back downhill. 6 hrs she went through an episode just like a repeat of Friday last week it was bad and very traumatic for me to witness once again that was the 3rd or 4th time. They did 4 echos EKGs and a CT SCAN trying to figure out what was going on. First they thought it was the Nitro drip or the heparin blood thinners that was effecting her body so they took her off of all that and tried something else. Then the fentanyl was no longer helping so last night her Dr put her on morphine told her that'd be alot better for her and her heart being a cardic patient and it worked. It took about 10 mins to kick in and thankfully she slept all night. Her nurse kept giving her morphine throughout the night. She slept all night and the more sleeps she gets the more her body will heal.

Update: 11-14-23 mom had her surgery last night. Dr. Pahuja was able to place 2 stints in one of her vessels but the other will have to wait until her heart is stronger. If it wouldn't had been for the pump we wouldve lost her. Shes very very sick her heart is very damaged and going to take time to heal. She's also got a heart pump going as well its called an impella 5.5 they going to leave in for a few days give her heart a vacation. She'll be in ICU for at least 2-4 weeks. Her team is meeting Friday to discuss radiation therapy for her cancer now. It's been a long week. I'm exhausted but I'm staying strong and pushing through. Please donate whatever you can. I'm going to need gas and food money and with me having celiac disease eating here is very difficult for me.

Updated: Mom was admitted to OU Cardiology on 11-10-23. She had a small heart attack. They did an angiogram and discovered all her vessels are blocked. 2 that are 70-90% and the other is 100%. They are very concerned. She's going to need open heart surgery bypass. Her Cardiologist and doctors are putting a game plan together now. They've put her hysterectomy on hold for now to get her heart taken care of.
