Providing Theater for Students
Donation protected
We are proud to partner with Boys & Girls Harbor, Inc and SCAN NY to deliver theater tickets to underserved students for the August, 2019 production of BAYARD: A New Musical in Harlem, NY.
But we don’t want to stop there. We desire more for tomorrows youth than a theater ticket, so we’ve created the BAYARD: A New Musical ACTIV(US)T program. Each student in attendance will be automatically enrolled.
Our goal in fundraising is to provide a theater ticket for any NYC public school student who so desires, to attend Bayard free of charge.
That's where we need your help!
A Community Pool Ticket Bundle purchases 10 student tickets for each $250 raised. We need you to contribute toward a ticket bundle!
We also encourage higher donations from individuals and corporations which are tax exempt through our partnerships with Boys & Girls Harbor, Inc and SCAN NY and make you or your business an official sponsor of BAYARD: A New Musical.

In 1963, what would become known as the most iconic march in Civil Rights history was still a gestating idea without the right person to organize it. The leaders of the movement, some reluctantly, some faithfully, chose Bayard Rustin, the great civil rights strategist and openly gay Black man, to organize and get the march on its feet. His ideas would be a boon for the movement but his life would be the obstacle.
More information about SCAN NEW YORK:
SCAN New York is a non-profit young and family service organization that provides a variety of integrated supports to the highest risk children and families of Harlem, East Harlem, and the South Bronx. Serving over 7,000 children and teens and 1,000 adults and families each year at 22 program sites, SCAN is the largest youth service provider in the communities it serves.
Traditional young and family service providers typically target their client’s problems and then terminate program delivery at the resolution of the presenting problem. SCAN considers the traditional “service termination” as a beginning—we employ a strength-based, empowerment-focused service approach, building upon individual and family strengths, inspiring our children and their families toward positive goals. The agency has over 80 full-time and 300 part-time employees with an annual budget of over $15M. SCAN has been led by its Executive Director, Lewis Zuchman, an original 1961 Freedom Rider, since 1987.
