Al Bruno's fight against cancer
Donation protected
Al Bruno is a lifelong resident of Saugerties, NY. Born and raised in Glasco, he now lives in the hamlet of Malden with his wife Lisa and their two rescue dogs, Maggie and Sonic. If you know Al, he is always helping his friends and neighbors in their time of need. Now, it's our turn to help Al...
Al was originally diagnosed with bladder cancer back in 2014. Through months of numerous surgeries and treatments, HE BEAT the disease! For nearly a decade, he had been doing great!! Up until recently. The vial disease came back with vengeance, this time in both kidneys.
In December 2022, Al was diagnosed with "high-grade bilateral urothelial renal carcinoma"... which is a very aggressive cancer in both ureters and kidneys. In February 2023, he underwent surgery to remove one of the affected kidneys. The hope was to save his other kidney by treating it with a form of advanced chemotherapy. After months of treatment, procedures, surgeries, blood transfusions, and more at Memorial Sloan Kettering in NYC, MSK Westchester, Vassar in Poughkeepsie, and Kingston Hospital, we learned that the treatment was unsuccessful--devastatingly. He has now started dialysis 3 days a week as well as undergoing intense radiation two days a week.
Without warning, Al is no longer able to work. Lisa has had to miss weeks of work to help care for him. Needless to say, the bills have begun piling up. The daily trips to and from treatments/appointments are a strain on finances, especially with gas at nearly $4 a gallon.
This being said, we are reaching out to our community to help the Bruno's as they have helped countless individuals and families in our community during their time of need. Please consider making a donation to help ease the financial burden during this difficult time.
On behalf of the Bruno's, THANK YOU.
