Support for the Cano Family

Donation protected

Update: It is with a heavy heart that we share Al Cano passed away on Wednesday, May 3rd. The family continues to need your support and prayers. GoFundMe will continue to support the family as they go through this difficult time. I know Michelle, Alyssa, and Cameron appreciate your donations and your support.

On January 27, 2023, Al, a registered nurse working in an intensive care unit, was assaulted while assisting in providing care. The assault left him with a traumatic brain injury. While his physician does not yet know the extent of the injury, Al has been off work since the incident and, according to his physician, he could be off work for up to 6 to 9 months or longer. We are all hoping for a shorter recovery period but only time will tell if, or when, Al may recover. His next step is inpatient neuro rehabilitation, which could possibly be several months away as waiting lists are very long.

The Cano Family’s financial situation is worsening as their savings are dwindling and worker's compensation is not providing enough to cover monthly expenses. The family is relying primarily on his wife Michelle’s teacher salary to get them through this ordeal. (Michelle is a 27-year teacher at Lindsay Elementary School in Springfield.)

Please help Al and Michelle if you are able! Every little bit counts! Thank you very much for your kind thoughts and prayers!
