Al Hincka Heart Transplant Fund

Donation protected

On January 13th, Al Hincka was transported via an emergency flight to the Henry Ford Cardiovascular ICU in Detroit, due to heart failure.

He is currently under the best 24/7 care our family could ask for.  Tests are being done to get him both stabilized & to prepare him for a heart transplant.

Once stabilized, the plan is to come home and - along with nurses and our family of warriors - start a lengthy recovery process. He will have to go back to Henry Ford CICU a minimum of 1 visit/week for the next several months.

The goal is to get healthy enough for open heart surgery - he will then be added to the list for a heart transplant. The wait will be taxing - not only are there only 2500 (or less) hearts available (on-average per year) in the entire country, but many other factors need to be met: size, age, blood type, proteins, etc.

Although insurance helps, we all know the many additional expenses that are not covered. From medications, in-home care, travel expenses, etc. - the list is long and growing.

Al remains positive and even makes jokes with the nurses when he has the energy. (No surprise there, right!?) This is the beginning of a long journey for Al and family, but we are on board and fighting strong!

We want to thank everyone for keeping Al and family in their thoughts and prayers.

Any and all help is appreciated beyond words.
