Alameda Schoolyard Community Fundraiser
Tax deductible
We're raising funds to give the Alameda Elementary School playground a makeover! The new Alameda Elementary Community Schoolyard will include new play equipment, a covered basketball court, community walking paths, and picnic spaces. During non-school hours, the schoolyard will be open as a community park so that families can have a safe, healthy place to recreate year-round.
100% of your tax-deductible donation through GoFundMe will go directly toward construction, slated for 2024. We have a big goal to reach for the entire project (over $1 million!), but this first step is critical to show other private foundations and funders that the community supports this project.
Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: Who's leading this project?
A: The Trust for Public Land (TPL) is working with Willamette Partnership, the Roundhouse Foundation, and local partners in Ontario to bring this project to life. We started talking with school and community leaders in early 2022 and have received input from more than 500 community members on the design for the new schoolyard.
Q: How much should I donate?
A: We're way more interested in having lots of people give us small amounts ($5-$50) than we are in having just a few people donate large amounts through GoFundMe. Even if you can only give $1, that will be one more person we can show who supported our project!
Q: Where's the rest of the money coming from?
A: TPL is taking the lead on fundraising for capital construction. We've already received $100,000 toward our goal, and once this GoFundMe ends, we'll be able to show other foundations and funders that we have the community buy-in to make this project a success. Our team is explicitly seeking funding from broader statewide and national funders so that we're not competing with local Ontario organizations for donations. Although...
Q: I'm a local business owner/just won the lottery—how can I support this project in a bigger way?
A: We'd love to talk with you more about how you can get your name on our donor recognition plaque. Whether you're a small business owner, connected to private philanthropy, or just someone who really loves investing in community projects, reach out to us and we can collaborate on making the most out of your donation. (And if you did win the lottery, congratulations!)
Q: How can I stay up to date on the project?
A: We'll be sending out updates as the GoFundMe progresses, but if you want to stay in the loop throughout construction, you can sign up for our newsletter list at the bottom of this page .
