Alan Davis Medical Funds for ALS

Donation protected
The ice bucket challenge took on a whole new meaning this Spring as our dad was diagnosed with a terminal illness. ALS, also known as as Lou Gehrig's disease, is a motor neuron disease that causes the neurons that control muscle movement to die. This leads to muscle atrophy, difficulty in moving, speaking, swallowing, and breathing. Currently there is no cure or treatment for this disease.

While our dad has been managing this disease on his own undiagnosed for several years, we are now keenly aware of how little time we have left with him. He is currently struggling with basic tasks that are becoming more challenging each day. Our big, strong dad is now facing a battle for independence. He has suffered silently and humbly with a smile on his face and a heart always ready and willing to serve others.

We know there are many that love him and are looking for ways to help him and our mom at this time. We have set up this page because many have asked exactly how they can help. What he truly needs is equipment and home modifications that will aid him to live as independently as possible. Between the medical expenses and the specialized equipment, the financial aspect of this disease is becoming an added burden.

We have received an outpouring of love and support and are so grateful to everyone who is and will continue to support us during this difficult time.

Our family has been through many trials together and through them we have become very close. It is extremely hard for us to watch our dad go through this trial, but we know that we are strong and together we can get through anything.
