On Thursday night December 22, 2022, the only home of Bobby Gentile and Alan Kastner caught fire, trapping their dog Roscoe and Bobby in the fire. Firefighters rescued Roscoe, however, Bobby did not survive.

The family and neighbors on Little Alum Pond in Brimfield, have set up this Go Fund Me page to assist Alan in his needs.

Their Brimfield home has been in Bobby's family for generations. The house on 3rd Street was built in the 1940s, and it was their permanent residence. All of their belongings, necessities and family heirlooms were destroyed in this tragic fire.

Please consider contributing to Alan's survival fund. We can all pray for his comfort and extend our sympathy, however financially, we know he needs to replace physical items, secure housing, and maintain his living expenses.

Alan has stage four prostate cancer and incurs monthly health costs of $700. This past summer, he was placed on a maintenance program and has been doing wonderfully which allowed him to return to work, however, a few weeks ago he became unemployed. Losing his job was difficult but Bobby and Alan saw it as an opportunity to be together as Bobby was needing Alan's help. In October, Bobby was diagnosed with dementia, therefore Alan cared for him daily. The night of the fire, Alan was picking up their prescriptions, and gathering groceries when he returned to see multiple fire trucks extinguishing his burning house. Firefighters were unaware Bobby and their dog were in the home until Alan arrived.

Roscoe was wrapped in a blanket and welcomed into Alan's arms. The two remain together now knowing their lives are forever changed. All donations will be directly given to Alan for his use.

Bobby Gentile was 74, an avid floral gardener and friendly neighbor. Besides his partner and husband of 15 years, he leaves his only son Jeremy Gentile of California and his two beloved grandsons. Bobby was always smiling and enjoying life on Little Alum Pond, which his spirit will always be a part of.
