Alana For Allergies--Memorial fund for Alana Tow
Donation protected
This fundraising effort memorializes the remembrance of our sister Alana Tow with a goal to help kids around the world, just like Alana, whose daily lives are impacted by allergies. Proceeds from this fund will be used for donations towards allergy research and other causes that Alana cared so much about. It is with a heavy heart that we share that on September 15th, 2022, our sister, Alana Uy Tow, tragically passed away. Our parents, Michael and Nancy Tow, her boyfriend, Ian Chuang, and our family members were with her until the very end.
Alana was known for the way she could light up any room she went into. As the oldest of her generation within her family, she was a natural-born leader, guiding us, her two younger sisters Mikayla and Sienna Tow, and her seven cousins through their biggest decisions, challenges, and successes.
Along with being beautiful and confident, Alana was a star student and athlete. As a Sophomore at Rensselaer Polytech Institute and member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority, she received various awards for her achievements and was currently doing a 6 month co-op at Cisco, which was almost unheard of for a sophomore. She was both a captain and MVP tennis player at Needham High School. She spent her summers as a camper and counselor at NECYSC where she met some of her dearest friends to this day, including her boyfriend Ian. Ask anyone and they will say how charismatic she was.
She loved working with electronics and technology alongside her uncle Wes and grandfathers Randy and Alex. She spent her free time playing Valorant—even gaining a large following streaming the game on Twitch.
We loved shopping, having photo shoots, and playing the video games Overcooked and Roblox with her.
Alana suffered from various allergies. She was allergic to eggs, nuts, lactose, shellfish, cats, dust mites, and many more. Throughout her life, these allergies caused her to face difficulties: being sent to the hospital during overnight camp, being unable to eat when going out for food, carrying around an EpiPen in her backpack, and having to go to the ER due to the slightest bit of egg on her plate. Most of these obstacles can be attributed to the lackluster manner of taking allergies seriously, which leads to negligence and misinformation for many.
Passionate about the cause and looking to make a difference, as a young teen, Alana created the organization AllergyKidz to spread awareness, educate others, and create accessible resources for all. While it is way too young to pass away at 19, we wish to continue Alana’s legacy by holding this memorial fund.
Please support our beloved sister, daughter, granddaughter, niece, and friend by donating in her name!
With love,
