Alanna Christine Manke, our Angel
Donation protected
On Sunday, March 7, as a result of a devastating car incident our sweet Alanna, age 18, was airlifted to North Memorial Hospital. During the week her medical team monitored swelling and potential brain damage. After showing signs of improvement and being released from the ICU on Friday she set a goal to "kick ass" and be released to go home as soon as possible. Saturday afternoon, however, her heart stopped and she was placed once again in the ICU on a ventilator, her brain showing no signs of activity.
While her body lay attached to life-giving machines, sweet Alanna's soul had indeed gone home.
In this tragedy we find glimmers of hope and peace in the knowledge that many lives will be helped, and indeed saved through her organ donation.
We stand by feeling helpless, while dad Josh, mom Candy and big brother Dade are grief-stricken and lost. We can't take away their pain - only time and memories will do that, but we can help alleviate the burden of medical and after life costs. Any remaining funds will be used to honor Alanna's memory.
Please, give if you can in memory of this spirited angel with a heart of gold.
