Alanna’s Stanford Trial Team

Donation protected
Sophomore year is supposed to be a time of friends, carefree fun, taking the time to discover your passions and dreaming about what life after high school holds.

Even if it’s from the comfort (and we use that term loosely) of a hospital bed.

Despite having spent approximately two months in-patient at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin over the last year battling an autoimmune disease and two ovarian tumors, Alanna works hard to maintain a greater than 3.5 GPA and is successfully completing AP and Honors classes as a DC Everest High School sophomore.

Her dreams since she was 6 years old? To attend the University of Colorado - Boulder or Colorado State University, graduate with a law degree and become a prosecution attorney. And next summer, she’ll have the opportunity to take yet another step toward that goal as she represents her high school - thanks to the nomination of her AP History teacher - at Stanford Law School’s prestigious Intensive Law & Trial program.

The 10-day program hosts 180 students from across the country per session and includes a full mock trial at the San Francisco Superior Courthouse. Not only will this program be an asset as she applies for law school, but also will prepare her for a future career in the courts.

It goes without saying that an invaluable trip such as this has a price.

While Alanna loves her job at Culver’s and has been meticulously saving her earnings for not only this program, but also for college, being confined to a hospital room leaves little opportunity for working enough hours to raise the funds necessary. Not to mention the time she devotes to her academic studies.

With additional support from her parents and grandparents, Alanna is working to chip away at the $4,600 cost (includes tuition, room and board, but does not include airfare). But unfortunately, the gap still exists between funds raised and what is needed.

If you feel it weighing on your heart to donate any amount, big or small, your contribution would be greatly appreciated.

We believe Alanna is bound for great things and can’t wait to see all she accomplishes. Thank you for also believing in her.

To Stanford and beyond!
