January 2020 Update
In 2020 looking to volunteer three times, a week in each country... (Lesotho, Kenya and Ethiopia)
I am looking for funding to help support the International campaigns I’m helping.
Also, help to offset the website costs for Ntlafatso Foundation a youth leadership voluntary team that is covering HIV Anti-Stigma, focusing on youth.
Thank you for all your support
Regards
Alan

November 2019 Update Volunteered in Ethiopia Nov 2018 and Nov 2019. Both trips were life changing and I’m so proud to be part of the teams that selflessly give up their free time to help others.
Thank you for all your support

I am looking for funding to help support local campaigns in Lesotho, a high-altitude, landlocked kingdom encircled by South Africa.
I am helping to get started and supporting Ntlafatso Foundation a youth leadership voluntary team that is covering HIV Anti-Stigma focusing on youth. Also, while I am out in Quthing Lesotho in Oct 2018, we will be holding an HIV Anti-Stigma Campaign at Hills-View in Upper Moyeni
and
SOS Children's Villages Lesotho, with "Kit for Kids", giving families and links here in Wales direct support to "Double Orphaned" children in SOS care by donating sports kit (Boots, Socks, Shorts and Shirts) and I personally deliver them to SOS Children's Villages In Lesotho.
SOS will be holding a children's football match with the SOS children before the HIV Anti-Stigma Campaign... Everyone welcome...
Your kind donation will help with both the planning and delivery of Ntlafatso Foundation's HIV Anti-Stigma Campaign in October 2018 as well as help support the SOS Children's Villages "Kit for Kids".
Thank you in advance
Alan

How I started volunteering…
In October 2014 I travelled to Lesotho, South Africa on an International Learning Opportunity (ILO ) to develop my leadership skills.
ILO is a Welsh Government funded scheme which gives participants the chance to spend eight weeks working in Uganda or Lesotho. Participants include midwives, GP’s, mental health practitioners and physiotherapists to name but a few, who work with communities in a health context. ILO does not pay your salary while you are abroad but does cover flights, travel costs and accommodation.
Since my initial visit in 2014 through ILO, I have been back four more times, no longer funded by the Welsh Government, but now funded and supported by Welsh Health Links.

The Welsh Links are really good at fundraising and getting grants to achieve their health-related training goals; however as I am not trained in any health disciplines, I volunteer my technical, logistic and driving skills to help the Health Links achieve their goals, as well as assisting with any analytics, computer, printer or network issues in the local hospital so I do not receive funding.
Picture: Donating battery powered DVD players with built-in screens to help the medical staff with continued learning through DVDs. I conducted an overview then worked one-on-one with each attendee.
Picture: Betsi Quthing Heath Partnership purchased a laptop, then donated it to the mental health coordinator in Quthing Lesotho. I set the windows 10 laptop up and configured it while I was on placement in Lesotho in May 2016.
