Dear friends and family of our beloved Al Moon,
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Albert Moon (affectionately known as Al). Al passed away peacefully at his home in Millbrae, California on Monday, August 1, 2022. He is survived by his wife, Virginia, and their two sons, Derek and Sean.
Al was a devoted husband and father who adored his family. He loved being a dad and watching the boys flourish at soccer, basketball, martial arts, and piano. The highlight of his week was the accomplishments of both Derek and Sean. Even with his demanding work schedule, Al made sure he carved out time to spend with his wife and boys. Al enjoyed planning and executing family vacations. Their most recent trip was to Monterey for Spring Break 2022.
Al built relationships wherever he went. He had a great heart and enjoyed strategizing over food and drinks. He loved life, he loved his co-workers who became his friends, and he loved his family. Al made sure that everyone he met knew they were appreciated and that their hard work was not in vain.
Al worked for Kaiser Permanente for over 21 years, where he worked as the Regional Director of Northern California for the past 6 years. During his tenure in this role, he was asked to lead a national project to implement a Pharmacy inventory system that would be deployed in 4,700 pharmacies across Kaiser Permanente’s medical office buildings. At the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Al developed a playbook that was used nationally in pharmacy and nurse settings to procure vaccines, all while heading the pharmacy inventory project. Throughout his career, Al held various positions in Pharmacy including outpatient pharmacy supervisor, ICU Pharmacist (where he developed the critical care program for San Francisco Medical Center), Inpatient Pharmacy Director, and Area Pharmacy Director. Al also worked for the Hospital as the Support Services Administrator for a few years before he returned to Pharmacy as the Regional Director. Al was a great leader, mentor, colleague, and friend.
Al was diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer in November 2021. He fought the battle gallantly. While he succumbed to his illness, Al still won in life. Please join us in honoring his legacy by supporting his family during this difficult time. If you would like to make a monetary donation to Virginia, Derek, and Sean, use the link below. All of the funds will be transferred directly to his family.
