Sullivan-Birmingham Relief Fund
Donation protected
I’ve created this page for my stepmother, Elizabeth Birmingham; my father, Kevin Sullivan; my brothers, Albert and Michael Sullivan; and my stepsister, Angelica Birmingham (who lives in PA).
In the early hours of Monday, January 23, 2017, tragedy struck my family. A fire broke out at their home in Peekskill, NY, claiming the life of my disabled stepmother. My father and Albert were able to escape the apartment. Michael had already left for work, and was not home at the time. The fire caused complete destruction of the property.
At this time, my father and Albert are staying with a family member. Albert, 13 years old, is autistic and diabetic, requiring 24 hour care from visiting nurses. Being displaced has made it difficult for his nurses to get to him. Due to his special needs, stability is extremely important. He does not fully comprehend the situation, but it is clearly starting to affect him. He has lost his mother, his pet cat, his home, and all of his belongings.
Michael is staying with our mother. He also lost his belongings.
My family did not have renter’s insurance, and there was no life insurance policy. I am hoping to raise enough money to help pay for Beth’s funeral expenses, obtain housing for my father and Albert, and furnish their new home. Funds will also be used to pay for transportation expenses, as Albert has frequent medical appointments, and Angelica will now need to travel from PA often. Prior to the fire, video games and WWE toys played a large part in Albert’s daily functioning. All were destroyed by the fire, and we would love to be able to replace some of them, as they served as his primary outlet. Donations will go straight to my father. After all expenses are paid for, any money left over from the donations received, will be placed in an account dedicated to Albert’s future care.
Thank you so much for your support during this difficult time, and thank you to those who have donated clothing for my father, Albert, and Michael.
Albert's school and Angelica's best friend have also created donation pages for my family. Thank you to anyone viewing this page, who has already donated to one of the other pages.
*If anyone knows of an affordable one or two bedroom apartment available in the Northern Westchester area, please message me. It needs to be located near a train line, so that Albert’s nurses can easily get to him.
Please share!
