Alcohol free 2021 for mental health
Want to join myself and Nick in making a difference? We are raising money to benefit Beyond Blue Limited, and any donation will help make an impact.
This year myself and Nick will be going alcohol free for the entire of 2021 to raise awareness for mental health. Our aim is to show others that you don’t need to drink alcohol to fit in with your friends especially if you’re not in the right head space.
Personally, myself and Nick know the devastating effects of mental illness and how it doesn’t discriminate. However for those of you that aren’t aware 1 in every 5 Australians (On average 4 million people) suffer from a mental illness in any given year, and almost half the population have suffered a mental disorder at some point in their life. These are staggering figures and something we need to bring more light to especially in our friendship groups, sporting clubs and work places. No one should be peer pressured or feel like they have to drink to fit in and have a good time with their friends, especially taking into consideration these statistics. Alcohol won’t ever be the answer to mental disorders and we should be looking after ourselves and one another when it comes to these real life issues.
We will be raising money for Beyond Blue, if you want to donate or if you’d like to join us on our mission, challenge yourself or a friend- all are welcome. If you do want to jump on board, You don’t have to do the same as us- It’s about whatever will make the biggest impact to you. Whether it’s going alcohol, drug, cigarette or even fast food free, it all contributes to improving your own mental wellness while also raising awareness that positively impacts your community too.
We urge you all to stop and think before making that comment to a friend on a Saturday night and make sure your friends and loved ones know it’s okay not to be okay. Don’t sacrifice your mental health for anything.
Thanks in advanced for you contribution to this cause that means so much to us.
