"Alebrijes!" Immersive Art Car Experience

ALEBRIJES! IMMERSIVE ART CAR EXPERIENCE
Our team is setting out to construct four (4) Alebrije-inspired Art Cars in four phases. Alebrijes are brightly colored fantastical spirit guides, inspired by Mexican folk art, which are made up of various body parts from a variety of different animals, each holding a specific meaning. We are creating these creatures to showcase the customs and traditions of the Dia de los Muertos holiday, pay homage to our loved ones that have passed on, and promote unity and oneness while holding space for Black, Brown, and Native communities. This project coincides with the 2023 Burning Man theme “Animalia”.
This year for phase one, we will bring the art car, "El Lobo", the Wolf, representing the element earth.
CROWDFUNDING GOAL
We seek to raise $55,000 (of the total $100,000 needed) through crowdfunding. We are interested in individuals, corporations, and foundations willing to contribute larger amounts. All donations over $250 are all tax deductible through our fiscal sponsor, Dia de los Muertos DC.
(Contact us directly for more information about large donations.)
THE PROJECT
These vehicles will be outfitted with vibrant colors and traditional Aztec patterns, pulsing LED lighting effects, high-resolution projectors, and a state-of-the-art sound system. The audio systems for all four vehicles are designed to link together and also play sound individually.
The base vehicle for each art car will be a 26ft Stakebody Truck.
