Help Alejandro Pay for a Kidney Transplant!
Spende geschützt
Meet Alejandro; he is 21 years old, living in Mexico City, and was attending law school before becoming ill. His family and friends call him Alex.
Alex is very sick. In 2015 he was diagnosed with Focal Segmental Glomerulo Sclerosis (FSGS), a disease in which scar tissue develops on the kidneys that filters waste from the blood. FSGS is a very rare disease, and it can be fatal if not treated, although there is no known cure. Treatment includes dialysis, chemotherapy, or a kidney transplant.
Alex has gone through years of therapy without success. A sliver of hope presented itself in 2019 when a close family member was found to be a viable kidney donor. Alex's friends and family immediately began raising funds necessary to help Alex undergo surgery, and then COVID-19 happened to the world. No medical facility would admit him for a kidney transplant because of the lack of financial resources, past failed treatment, and surgery risks during the pandemic.
Today, his doctors are ready to proceed with the kidney transplant. The cost of the procedure, including recovery, is about $50,000. Alex and his family have no means to pay for it. This is Alex's last chance at survival.
We are asking for your help. Donate $5 today to help Alex. If enough people can contribute with this small amount, we are hopeful we can reach our goal, and Alex can go on with his life free of this horrible disease.
