Alesha-marie fight for inoperable brain tumour
Donation protected
On the 11th of may 2019 was a day any mother or parent would never want to experience. My beautiful bright clever, caring funny 5 year old was diagnosed with, Non operable Optic pathway glioma involving right optic nerve, optic chiasm, post chiasmatic optic tracts, hypothalamus, anterior pituitary cerebrum, mid-brain & pons. Which in lament terms is a non operable brain tumour! Which has already taken Alesha-Marie’s sight in her right eye not to mention a cyst which has now formed on the tumour which keeps refilling itself with fluid which in turn puts pressure on the nerves in her brain which control her ability to move and walk like any other 6 year old should be able to do.
Alesha-Marie has had a shunt put in attached to her brain that has a drainage port located behind her left ear which is used to drain the excess fluid from the brain when it builds up and causes excess pressure to her nerves and brain.
She is currently undergoing chemotherapy with the royal marsden hospital in The london borough of Sutton. .
We are exploring private treatments which the NHS cannot offer, we want the best treatment for our darling girl. We have been told its inopperable due to its location as its right in the center of her brain, also that chemo will only shrink it and not remove it. At the Harley Street Clinic, they are able to provide MRI-guided laser ablation using a Visualase™️ system, which helps to treat tumours that were previously thought to be inoperable. A thin laser probe is inserted through a small hole into the brain. The tip of this probe emits laser energy to destroy the tumour while leaving surrounding healthy tissue undamaged unlike chemotherapy which also destroys healthy cells and brain tissue. We are also looking into proton beam treatment, we have also been in contact with St judes children’s cancer hospital in Tennessee to try and get a second opinion. All of which depends on Alesha-Marie and what is suitable for her and with the approval of her consultant, this is by no means a quick fix but a start in the lengthy road of trying to save our baby girl.
All money we are raising is to help with medical costs, anythig medical alesha-marie needs, travel and research trying to find the best treatmeant for her!
Any money not used for Alesha-Marie's treatment or medical visits will be donated back into Brain tumour and cancer charities. We would also like to do something special for Alesha-Marie.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story and any donations how big or small we really do appreciate from the bottom of our hearts.
