Alex and Bethany's IVF Journey

Hello! We are Alex and Bethany, and we first would like to thank you for taking the time to read about our journey of TTC and infertility. We recently found out that IVF (in vitro fertilization) was our only option. Infertility affects 1 out of every 8 couples and we are one of those couples. This is not the way we wished to announce we are trying to have a baby, but here is our story.

We have been married for 3 years, together for 7. We were eager to start a family right after we got married. After 2 years of TTC and no luck we started to worry and went to seek medical advice. After spending $5,000 on tests to get answers, our journey was put on pause due to Alex having heart complications and being hospitalized for 10 days on our way to a weekend trip to San Diego this last October. We are happy that Alex is now healthy, and ready to continue our journey of creating a family.

This is when we were informed that IVF was the path we had to take. At first, tears were shed due to knowing the cost of IVF is high and insurance typically does not cover infertility. I called my insurance company and couldn’t believe it, they informed me that all infertility was covered! During this time, we found a doctor we really liked and were waiting for our next appointment to move forward.

Then our next hurdle came, my (Bethany) employer switched to a new insurance company that would no longer cover infertility. I am a special education teacher, and my insurance year goes from July-June and at our June 30th appointment, was when we were informed IVF was the only option we had. More tears were shed, and we started to feal defeated, we have come so far towards our goal of a family and already invested so much to give up now.

We found out one round of IVF will cost us $25-30,000 and all costs must be paid prior to starting the process. This is when we decided to reach out to family and friends for help.

We know this is a big ask but are asking for any amount of help to help us make our vision of a family a reality. All money raised will go directly to our IVF costs.
