Alex Calder Traumatic Brain Injury

Donation protected
On October 9, 2020 Alex Calder  20 years old was in a tragic accident. ( A beloved son, a big brother, nephew, cousin & friend ) Alex was hit by a car while crossing a street in Tampa, Florida. He sustained many injuries, including a traumatic brain injury, broken femur, knee and many bones in the right leg. An 8 hour surgery was performed on his right leg.  He had injury to his bladder and spleen as well as facial fractures and many contusions on his body. Alex is currently in a coma at the Tampa General Hospital breathing thru a trach. We are praying along with hundreds of others for Alex to wake up from the coma and to be restored to wholeness again. We thank you for praying for him. We believe in a mighty God that can move mountains and are trusting Him to take care of Alex.
So you know more about Alex, before this accident he was a student at the University of South Florida in Tampa majoring in International languages.  His dream was to travel the world someday and also to use his language skills to help people. Unfortunately, life changed for Alex in a blink of an eye and instead of him giving help to people, he needs your help.
We ask in addition to praying for him, if you are able to donate to his expenses we would be grateful. Here are the current financial needs Alex and his parents are facing due to this accident:
Health insurance deductible is $4,000. In addition to the deductible there will be a hospital co-pay. The hospital he is in currently is out of his insurance network which means that co pay will be very high especially being in the Intensive Care Unit for two weeks as of today.
Alex's parents and brother live on the East Coast, 3 hours from the hospital. In order for them to be close to the hospital they have rented an efficiency hotel apartment close to the hospital. That cost is $2,400. per month.
At some point the hospital plans on transferring Alex to a long term acute care hospital that specializes in traumatic brain injury.  We are hoping this will be closer to his home and family. Medical transportation from West coast to East coast of Florida will be very several thousand dollars.  The cost of the acute care facility will be very high also.
We thank you again for your generosity to Alex and his family.
