Alex Darracott who suffered a bleed on the brain
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Dave and I am raising funds for a very bright young active 9-year-old boy called Alex Darracott, grandson of the late Terry Darracott (Everton professional footballer amongst other teams). His world is his family and football, being an avid Everton supporter and member of Bold Rangers Football Club.
Last week, 14th June '23 Alex's family was contacted by the school to say he wasn't well and had collapsed. He was sent to Whiston Hospital where he spent the night for a suspected infection. The next day his family was devastated when he was blue-lighted to Alder Hey Children's Hospital when it was diagnosed that Alex had suffered a bleed on the brain and he
required immediate surgery. The surgeon prepared the family and only gave a 20% chance of survival. 7 hours later and the surgeon had removed a blood clot the size of a walnut from Alex's brain and he was placed in ICU, the next 24 hours being the most critical. The next day Alex under sedation was forcibly removing his tube and the consultant decided to allow him to wake up and see the progress. Alex has amazed everybody over the last few days with his resilience and positivity and each day is growing stronger. He has a very long way to go and will struggle with some temporary and also permanent issues due to the bleeding. Currently, he is suffering from issues with his sight, coordination and left-side mobility.
He has a loving family, parents Cris and Melissa, and siblings Kiera and Harley are all spending as much time as possible with Alex during his post-operation time. They have all been supported by the amazing staff at Alder Hey and Ronald McDonald House. The family unit is holding strong but needs your help and support in the long road ahead.
