It’s with such sadness and tragedy that I share the news of a young boy, only 12 years old, who took his own life. His name was Alex Gruetzmacher. He passed away on December 16th. Alex was an incredibly gifted young boy who had so many dreams and aspirations, but with such tragedy, his life was taken too soon.
Alex was a 7th grader at South Park Middle School in Oshkosh, WI. School was very tough for him because he was different than his fellow students; he had autism. However, Alex didn’t let adversity get in the way. He had good grades in school, loved playing board games, baking cookies, playing video games with his friends, collecting Pokémon cards, drawing/sketching, painting, and most of all spending time with his 4 siblings— Aspen, Hudson, Ava, and Jade. He was the oldest of 5.
Losing a child is one of the greatest heartbreaks any person can go through. Between the pressure of individual grief, medical expenses & the countless challenges associated their loss.
I share this because witnessing the grace of god and the power of community, we can help put a stop to bullying and raise more awareness to suicide prevention. We can’t let this keep happening in our schools or in our community.
We, who are close friends of the Gruetzmacher family, have created this fundraiser to allow them to grieve with the dignity they deserve.
Without the added burdens of enormous medical debt & planning the funeral for their 12 year-old son during a season that usually brings the most jolly and cheer.
For some of you, financial contributions may not be feasible and that's perfectly okay.
Your love, prayers and SHARE’S are equally valuable in helping them achieve their new mission of bringing more awareness to help end bullying in schools, and most importantly help save more lives with suicide prevention.
Here's how you can help:
Donate: Your financial support, regardless of the amount, will significantly help them reduce their medical debt & planning of the funeral services. Every contribution is greatly appreciated.
Share: Spread by sharing this GoFundMe page on your social media. The wider the audience, the more likely his timely message of love, unity and the preciousness of life, reaches those who need to hear it most.
We are having a celebrating of life for Alex on Thursday, Dec 28th from 5pm - 8:30pm at ZaRonis located at 2407 Jackson street, Oshkosh, WI 54901.
Please come and support Alex and his family.
