Alex, Jeff & Smith Thompson

Hi, my name is Gwen Danca, Jeff's sister. I am fundraising to help Alex and Jeff along with their newborn son Smith Rae. We were all anxious for Smiths arrival but didn't expect to meet him so soon. Sadly, Alex's breast cancer metastasized during her pregnancy. They were unable to treat her as aggressively as needed while she was carrying him. Luckily, they were able to get him to the 28-week mark and beautiful Smith was born August 25, 2023, 2.7lbs, 18 Inches long. It was a miracle, and we all felt so relieved when they both made it through. We are so thankful to you all for all your prayers and well wishes, they are working!

One month later, Smith gained almost a pound, he is 3.6lbs now! He is in the NICU and is getting great care. The doctors and nurses caring for him are amazing. Alex is receiving treatment for her cancer and is currently working to regain muscle movement after being immobile for a month. I know the medical costs for both their treatments will be extensive, so my hope is that these contributions will help ease some of the financial pain.
