My name is Patty Copening and Alex Mendibles and I were together for 13 years. We recently just got engaged and were ready to be married in October of 2021.

On August 13th Alex tested positive for COVID-19 and much to all of our shock he passed away on August 22nd at 2:15 pm.

Alex had the utmost respect for anyone in the armed services, always taking care of their meals when they came in to dine at Grimaldis the local restaurant in Las Vegas on Eastern that he was a server/bartender at.

Alex was always environmentally conscious and loved a good conversation with those whose ideas differed from his when it came to taking care of our planet.

Alex was an avid sports fan. His first love was for the University of Arizona. He would go anywhere to be able to support his wildcats. I quickly had to invest in an new wardrobe to accommodate Alex's love for U of A. More than anything, Alex would travel near and far to just be at a sporting event.

Alex had a deep love for his family. He cherished the relationships he had with his parents, brothers, uncles, aunts, grandfathers, grandmothers, sister-in-laws and his nieces and nephews. He went in hard on maintaining and continuing to cultivate lasting memories with all of his family, often making himself the brunt of many jokes. He knew how to laugh but more importantly he knew how to make others laugh. Laughter was one of Alex's best assets. When Alex talked about leaving this earth he made sure I knew that at his memorial he wanted people to get up and comment about their true feelings and memories of him. "People should not cry, they should laugh and be open and honest about their relationships and memories of me."

This GoFundMe is being setup to help with all of the costs associated with putting on two services for Alex. One will be done in Las Vegas where Alex lived for the last 17 years and one will be done in Tucson, AZ where he grew up. We all would like to have as many people attend either service but with that comes a cost. Anything you can help with would be appreciated by not only me but Alex's family. We are all picking up the cost of both services.
