Alex Pryor College Fund

Hello, I am Pamela Hopper, Alex’s LaLa (grandmother). Alex’s mother, my daughter Stacie, Ackerman-Hopper was taken from us and this world on Feb 16. She fought a long hard battle with a horrible disease called alcoholism and just never recovered. She was weary and weak and God in his great mercy called her home at the young age of 46. She was not able to leave any provision for Alex’s education.

Alex has lived with us since he was a junior in high school. His father has never been in his life. Alex and his momma had reestablished a relationship, although he never moved back home with her. He is heartbroken to think of what could have been had she not passed at such a young age. And now he really has a desire to make his mother proud, in her memory.

Alex is now in his second semester at Harrisburg Area Community College, He took a gap year and worked two jobs before starting classes at HACC. He still works at least 30 hours a week. He has high hopes of attending a university for his Bachelors after he achieves his Associates Degree in Business from HACC. Alex has many creative talents, many of you know about his years of dance and his passion for creative makeup. So, in addition to his desire to understand the business world, he hopes to use his degree to follow his passions in the creative world. He has overcome so much hurt and pain over the years, and we are trying to make the road to a successful life be one less obstacle he has to face.

We are asking that in lieu of flowers for the funeral, that interested family and friends kindly donate to a fund that will be set aside and used only for his future education. Financial aid has not been possible due to the regulations around his residing with us, since he was 16. This would be a non deductible donation, and considered a gift. And any amount you might wish to donate is graciously accepted and appreciated.
