Friends and family this fundraiser is for Alex Sosa Jr who was diagnosed with a rare blood disorder known as TTP.  We have seen Alex Jr grow into a young man from outings, gatherings, baseball games and even Bring Your Kid to work days.  He has been recovering at home, and while his first week home has been hopeful, he still as a long road ahead of him.

We wanted to reach out to see how we can come together and assist through his journey.

Please see Alex Jrs story below through his Dads eyes.

On Thursday January 21, 2021 at 9:45pm my world was forever changed. My 22 yr old son suffered a brain stroke paralyzing the right side of his body for 3 hours but felt like forever to me. It was later discovered that he had a rare disease called Thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP). TTP is a rare blood disorder. In TTP, blood clots form in small blood vessels throughout the body. The clots can limit or block the flow of oxygen-rich blood to the body's organs, such as the brain, kidneys, and heart. While in the hospital for 16 days and counting he received over 8 plasma pheresis transfusions (over 100 bags) as well as chemotherapy as part of his treatment. He is getting better and should be released soon. He will have TTP for the rest of his life and it will need to be closely monitored. He will receive maintenance every now and then to ensure his platelet levels are normal. I would typically not post this on social media but I wanted to make a memory of this moment to remember with fondness the undying support system I have that got me through this tough time. So many friends, family members and coworkers came out to support my son and I during this difficult time. We also received Texts, Calls and help setting up blood/ plasma/ platelet drives. My company Equinix was extremely supportive during this ordeal that sprung upon us. Alex Jr’s job Starbucks (Doral) was also incredibly supportive providing donations to the blood drive and expressing their love for their Stabuck’s family member. The care at Baptist Hospital was beyond spectacular. The Hematology, neurology, internal medicine and nursing staff were all attentive and kept us well informed. To all of you who gave blood, gift baskets, prayers, thoughts, sent texts, made daily calls checking on Alex Jr and who aided in setting up the blood drives I am forever in debted to you.
