Alex Taylor’s Medical and Memorial Expenses

Donation protected
My sister and brother in law, Matt and Lindsay Taylor, tragically lost their son Alex, Sunday May 9, 2021 just 2 months shy of his 18th birthday. He went from being a national level competitive gymnast to struggling with mental illness and substance use, which tragically ended in an overdose that took his life far too soon. He had just finished high school and was set to graduate on May 25, 2021. He was the oldest of four and leaves behind a 14 year old brother, a 7 year old sister, and a 2 year old sister. We are devastated for the Taylor family’s heartbreaking loss.

The Taylor family unfortunately does not have health insurance and so they are left with some significant medical bills on top of the funeral home and memorial expenses. Alex had to be airlifted from Chandler Regional to Phoenix Children’s and spent some time in the ICU. They also have two large outstanding bills from his previous Behavioral Health Hospital stays for suicidal ideation earlier this year.

Lindsay is a social worker at a high school and just lost one of her students to suicide the week prior to Alex’s passing (all within the same communtiy). Being a professional in the mental health field and having navigated it personally with Alex, she is left frustrated by the lack of resources and lack of quality and affordable services, as well as proper support for parents. Our mental health care system needs a lot of work and so she is on a mission to change this and is looking to start a program or non-profit to begin to address the barriers and issues within our mental health care system. Any extra funds will go towards the cause and program she creates. Both this young man’s family and the Taylor family do not want other families to have to go through this kind of tragedy. Proper prevention and intervention is needed and the Taylor family is on a mission to save other families and lives. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for supporting the Taylor family and a cause to address adolescent mental health services and parental support.
