Alex Young- Gone Too Soon

Donation protected
Alex Young

Read his name aloud.  He deserves it to be spoken.  He deserves you to know who he is.  United States Marine Sargent Alex Young served our country with a full heart.  In a drawer somewhere, there is a stack of ribbons and a purple heart to prove it.  But you would never know.  Why?  Because “the awards didn’t matter to (him).  He was happy to save his friends, to live (himself) and to fight another day”.

On Friday May 21st, 2021, the demons of the past took hold of Alex and he took his life.  PTSD is real.  This hero.  This father.  This husband.  This son.  This hard working 100% American man could no longer fight the darkness and he stepped into it.  And the world became a little darker that day.

Alex had a smile that could cast sunshine into any room.  He loved hard and deeply and his loyalty was fierce.  Growing up he worked alongside his parents at The Salvation Army Adult Treatment centers for drug and alcohol addictions.  As an adult, he served his country.  As a man, he stood beside his woman and proudly raised his son.

But our system is broken.  Sometimes the greatest assets get lost and Alex felt alone, helpless and the past horrors surfaced when no one expected it.  Our military men and women fight for us, are often injured, live through pains we can’t imagine and once they are honorably discharged they are expected to step back into some form of normalcy.  That is part of Alex’s story.

Another part of his story, is the one when we see Alex standing on the baseball plate ready to hit the ball.  You can hear him laugh and yell remarks to his close friends.

Another part, is when he would hold Kadi’s hand and walk through the farm.  They made plans for their future.  They made plans to enjoy life together forever.  Anyone walking by could see the gleam in Alex’s eye as he would carry his son Jax around and teach him the ins and outs of life.  Kadi and Jax ( Alex’s bride and son) were Alex’s world…and now they must find a way to live on in this world without him.

Another part is the moments when he was called son.  When he would step beside his father to help fix something or come up to his mother and give her a giant hug.  Or when they all would walk along the beach at sunset and simply enjoy the blessings of a beautiful day the Lord had poured upon them…and now Cathy and Mike (Alex’s Parents) must find a way to live on in a world without him.

Today we are asking for help.  Kadi and Jax must find their new path without Alex’s strong arm around them.  Kadi now must live with the memories and face a future without that contagious smile looking at her and letting her know it is all going to be okay.

We are hoping to raise $7,500 to help cover the monthly costs for Kadi and Jax for the next 3 months.  This will give them time to chip away the grief and find out what life is going to be without Alex Young.

Please help.  No gift is too small and all will be used wisely to help this young family who has lost their anchor and been set adrift in a scary sea of the unknown.   Gifts can be made here at GoFundMe or directly to
