Alexa’s craniotomy and tumor removal

My name is Andrea Schultz and I am Lexi’s mom. We have reached a difficult time and are asking for lots of prayers and financial help for the procedure that Lexi, our 20 year old daughter, has to have done on Tuesday, May 9th. We have a wonderful neurosurgeon in Cleveland who will be performing a craniotomy and tumor removal. Alexa was diagnosed with this tumor in February of 2020. We were sent for routine MRI scans, which have cost quite a bit out of pocket. In monitoring this tumor, it was discovered March 10th 2023, that the tumor has grown in size. It is about the size of a golf ball now and compressing on a blood vessel and against her brain, causing her almost constant headaches and pain. Myself and my husband, Lexi’s dad, Jason, have had to take many days off of work for appointments to Cleveland, and will be taking next week off for her surgery and recovery in the hospital. We are uncertain what recovery is going to look like for her and the length of time she will need care at home. As her mother, I will be taking off whatever time needed to help care for her after surgery, and my employer doesn’t offer paid time off. Lexi has been out of work for about a month now, due to circumstances of her health, and lack of transportation, as her boyfriend was involved in a car accident, which totaled his vehicle, leaving them without reliable transportation to and from work. It is my hope to decrease the burden of the medical bills and other costs incurred as a result of this major surgery. Thank you all for your thoughts, prayers, and support.
