7/26/2023 Update: On 7/29/2023, I will be flying down to Mexico to meet with Adrian's family and hold a celebration of life for his 30th birthday on 8/3. I will also be setting up schooling for his little nephews. I will post photos and updates throughout the week. Thank you to all those who have donated - I am so very appreciative!
4/20/2023 Update: Due to the unexpected outpouring of support, my new goal is to start an educational center for children in San Sebastian, Azcapotzalco, Mexico City - an underserved community where Adrian grew up. I want to guarantee a bright future for as many children in the community as possible in Adrian's memory.
Original Description: My name is Robert Blackie and yesterday I lost my fiancé and partner of 5 years, Adrian. He passed peacefully in his sleep after an intestinal operation to remove a tumor that his body was just too weak to recover from. He was just months away from finally getting the visa he needed to come to the U.S. so we could marry (many of you have been following that journey with me). He was a good man and loved me unconditionally. His sudden death has devastated and crushed me. Today I will fly down to Mexico for his funeral and would like to start a Gofundme to help his family during this horrendous time. They do not have very much money themselves, and Adrian's little niece (Fatima) and nephews (Dorian and Uziel) meant the world to Adrian. Any money raised will go to pay for the funeral expenses and additional money will be put towards the education of his young nieces and nephews. I would like to see them enrolled in an English Language school to better their chances at success in life and possibly move to the U.S.
Any amount helps, and I will ensure that this money is properly spent and documented in accordance with Gofundme guidelines. Adrian was my everything - the love of my life and my one and only. There are no words that I can type here to convey how devastated and shattered I am. But if I can help turn this into something good, and make a positive change in those he loved and cared so much for, it will go a long way to helping me with the long and arduous healing process. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.
