With a heavy heart, I regret to share that Alexis and Baby Yuri have unexpectedly passed. Even with the grace of the deepest levels of my faith, this is hard to bear, and a piece of my heart is broken. Two pieces. May they rest peacefully in the Heavenly arms of God forevermore.

I loved Alexis, I usually called her my Sweet Lou, and I loved being loved and honored by her. I loved the way her nose crinkled when she laughed out loud, and I love that she asked me to be Yuri's Godmother.

A whole new part of my identity was also born that day, a strong, beautiful, joyful, loving and reverent parent-like part of me; a part that I did not know existed within me until Yuri. Being his Godmother was one of the most important things I will ever be in my lifetime. Little Yuri brought love, joy, wonder and purpose to my life, my heart and my soul, and he will always be my baby Godson, my baby angel Godson.

Alexis was my best friend, a firecracker, and she loved me deeply. I love the way we decided we were family even though we were born of different parents. Our bond was so real and our connection so special. She was also a beautiful mother, and it lighted my heart to see her express such deep love for Yuri, and to receive the love her little angel brought to life.

I am asking friends, family, and community to partner with me in ensuring Alexis and Yuri's funeral expenses are covered and their service honors these two beautiful souls. Help me to ensure Alexis's family have the resources to make this transition as gentle as possible. I will share the date and location of their memorial services and Celebration of Life gathering as soon as I can. Any money I collect here will be sent directly to the funeral home to cover the service fees.
