Alexis, Jason and Paxton: Cancer clinical trial and support
Alexis Sigeti was five months pregnant with baby Paxton when she was diagnosed with cervical cancer in February. Doctors from Roswell Park Cancer Institute treated her with a form of chemotherapy that wouldn't hurt the pregnancy and would shrink the tumor as much as possible.
Paxton was born April 28, two months premature, and spent 65 days in the NICU at Sisters Hospital while Alexis continued her treatment at Roswell. Paxton is now healthy and thriving, meeting every milestone and is keeping everyone smiling with his infectious grin.
Alexis's first treatment was not successful and the cancer spread to her abdominal lymph nodes. She is now moving on to a clinical trial at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in Manhattan to try and slow the spread while medical science catches up with a cure. She will be treated for as long as her body can tolerate with the hope that it will put her into remission for a few months to a year and then she can start another clinical trial with the same success.
Alexis and Jason have received much love and support throughout this ordeal, and are grateful to friends and family near and far. As they prepare for the travel and disruption of these clinical trials, we'd like to do all we can to smooth their way and make it easier for them to stay together and get any extra support they need.
This fundraiser is to help cover their travel expenses and other expenses related to their day-to-day needs. Any proceeds above and beyond the cost of her treatment and travel expenses will be donated to Roswell Park.
Love Friends and Family of Alexis, Jason and Paxton.
