Alex’s birthday: gas money- ceremony- mobility

My name is Robert Cesar, I am the father of Alex Cesar. I want to wish my son an early, happy birthday. On march 17th, my son will turn 23. Alex has had a difficult start into his adulthood and continues to fight lung cancer from his radiation therapies as a survivor of leukemia. I’ve started this Go Fund Me page to help him realize his dreams of being independent and to enjoy his life as much as he possibly can. He is in good spirits and it is helpful for us to realize the fortitude he has and his desire to live the best life he can. He is an encouragement to us and an elder at the same time. Although, you can see Alex, out and about, his personal struggles have included some set backs. He has kept his energy, light heartedness, and positive attitude. We live in Juneau, Alaska and are Native Americans. Specifically, “Tlingit” the people of southeast Alaska! While, Alex continues his fight lung cancer and the seclusion of Covid, I have given some thought on want I’d like to offer him this year. His biggest desire is to gain “mobility”! Do to his illness, he has only recently obtained his drivers license and has a car. He is asking for Gas Money. Gas money for a Gas monkey! He would like to get a job this summer and go back to college in the fall. It’s been over 2 years that we have not been able to send Alex back to the university. He is, also, interested in traveling this year. Of course, we have some funds set aside, but they are difficult for us to use these funds for those things that are not a medical cost or an emergency. I am asking anyone who is interested in make my sons birthday wishes come to fruition to make a donation? To help me create a fund large enough to make these things possible. I would like to first set aside some funds for a trip to New Mexico for Alex and I to visit his blood brother, Leonard Begay Martin, and do Ceremony with the Navaho people. Alex no longer has my blood running through his veins. Leonard gave Alex the bone marrow that saved his life almost 16 years ago. Alex’s blood type and DNA have changed. His treatments also stopped his growth. During your visit we hope to find ourselves surrounded by the love of the Navaho people and to find healing and spiritual guidance. We also, hope to visit Cochise's stronghold! Then to my second home, Tucson, Az, where we have family and friends. My second desire for my son is to be outdoors. I’m interested in getting him an electric mountain bike, so he can enjoy Juneau, Juneau trails, and running his dog. Because of his illness, he has a limited amount of energy and I believe an electric bike will enable him to find the joy of riding, again. Of course, his wishes are for Gas money and to make new friendships at work and in school. Please, wish my son a happy birthday. I’m hoping this will be a great year for him, and us, as a family.
